Paws for Fitness Presentation - SpeakDog

It has been a while since I’ve barked at you but we’ve been working like dogs…

Mom has been preparing for the ‘Paws 4 Fitness’ class beginning tonight and Samson has been helping her get the word out. This combo fitness/dog training class is full and there is a waiting list so be sure and bark at us if you want to be included in the next series of classes.

They gave a presentation Tuesday which was fun and informative. Family Consumer Science Agent, Kirsten Corda, PhD of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; briefly explained about ‘Walk Across Texas’ and how it is going to be implemented in the classes.

Dr. Dana Mercer and Renee of Horizon Vet Clinic in Fulton, discussed canine nutrition and obesity. They said feed us apples (remove the seeds), carrots, green beans, broccoli, instead of doggie treats. If you want to feed us treats, use low cal treats. It’s really scary what happens to us if we become overweight.

Oh yea, Dr Mercer also said do not feed us avocado, grapes, onions (yuk) or chocolate as this is toxic to us.

It effects our organs and joints and the worse of all shortens out life. Hey, don’t you want us around a long time? Then feed us the good stuff.

Then Samson demonstrated behaviors your pups will learn in class like walking on a leash without pulling, sitting at the door without running out, all the basic stuff, even things with a hula hoop! Yes, you humans are going to get fit while training us and the best yet, you and your pups get to meet new people and dogs and socialize!

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Bark at you later, gotta go jump through a few hoops…
